On Wednesday, 29 August 2001, Think Centre will be at Singapore Immigration and Registration (SIR) Building to submit its official application to the Registry of Societies (ROS) to form as a society.
Sinapan Samydorai, Executive Director of Think Centre, will be accompanied by Melvin Tan, Communications Director and James Gomez, former Senior Director and now Chief Adviser, on the trip. The trio are expected to hand in their application to the ROS Officer-in-Charge in the afternoon.
Think Centre had, on 1 August 2001, announced its intention to dissolve its business registration and reform itself as a multi-partisan political society. The Centre will submit to the ROS the names of the 10 founding society members and a proposed 10-page Constitution along with other necessary papers. During this interim period pending the outcome of the registration process, it will seek to work within stipulations and engage ROS constructively as part of a public-awareness exercise.
In addition, the Board of Directors visited the Registry of Companies & Businesses (RCB) on Monday, 27 August 2001 to amend the list of Directors of Think Centre. James Gomez and Yaw Shin Leong, the two pioneer directors, officially withdrew their names upon the Board's acceptance of their resignations.
