Asian Cyberactivism to be launched in Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur

Posted by under Breaking News on 18 January 2004

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation will be hosting a series of book launches for Asian Cyberactivism: freedom of expression and media censorship in Bangkok, Singapore and Malaysia.

This book is a striking departure from other publications about the Internet, focusing more on the human actors than on the technology. It records political activism on the Internet and takes stock of some of the successes and failures of cyberactivists as they try to beat the various censorship regimes in Asia.

The launches cum roundtable discussions will be held on:

27 January 2004 at Thammasat University, Bangkok;

7 February at Hotel Rendezvous, Singapore; and on

14 February at Cititel Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

More launches cum roundtable discussions are planned for other locations.
