Think Centre congratulates President S R Nathan on his re-appointment. While Think Centre remains disappointed over the non-contest of the Elected Presidency.

Together with fellow Singaporeans, Think Centre (TC) congratulates President S R Nathan on his re-appointment as the President of the Republic of Singapore for another term.

While Think Centre remains disappointed over the non-contest of the Elected Presidency. We are also disappointed at the way certain non-governmental organisations expressed their overt support behind potential candidates even before Nomination Day.

Nonetheless Think Centre urges the elected President to start upholding the Constitutional rights and exercise his Constitutional powers, especially on the death penalty. Only then will the office-holder bring dignity, compassion and humanity to the highest office in this land of opportunities.

The future is ours to make, but only the President can save the lives of death row inmates.

Shanmugam s/o Murugesu was executed at 6 am, Friday, May the 13th 2005. The petitition was started to stop the hanging of Shanmugam. The petition will continue as the Singapore government continues to implement the death penalty.
