Think Centre (TC) has been given the run-around by the Radio Corporation of Singapore (RCS) with regards to the fate of their presentor, Fauziah Ibrahim. Uncomfirmed reports from our sources say that she has resigned from RCS.
In trying to determine the truth about the resignation of Ms Ibrahim, our Public Affairs Mgr, Jacob George did a round of calls to RCS, 251 8622, and even went down personally to RCS.
The first call of the day began when Jacob George called and spoke to the receptionist at RCS. He mentioned that he was from Think Centre and said he had called to find out whether Ms Ibrahim has resigned. He asked whether that was true and was told that Ms Ibrahim is "still there". The receptionist then transferred the call to one of Ms Ibrahim's colleague at 93.8FM, a Ms Mun Fong. Ms Fong said that Fauziah is not around but she could pass my number along to her. Afterwhich, Jacob asked whether Ms Ibrahim had resigned and she said that she does not know about that since Ms Ibrahim works in another team. She went on to say that I could talk to the co-ordinator in that team, Geraldine Chan, but she was away attending a course. Jacob then asked whether he could talk to Ms Rose Tan, Assistant Vice-President (NewsRadio 93.8FM), but was told that she was on leave.
Since no answer was forthcoming from RCS by way of phone calls, Jacob made a trip down to RCS. Approaching the receptionist, who seemed hesitant after Jacob produced his Think Centre name card, he asked to speak to Ms Ibrahim. The receptionist asked whether he had made an appointment to see her and when he said that he did not know that he had to make an appointment, the receptionist reiterated that an appointment has to be made. He then proceeded to make an appointment but was told to call another number, 256 0401, to fix an appointment. He called this number, which is the mainline for MediaCorpTV, and asked whether he could make an appointment to see Ms Ibrahim, preferably immediately, and if that wasn't possible, anyone from 93.8FM. She said Ms Ibrahim was not around and the only other person was 93.8FM Station Administrator, Ms Florence Lim. But, Ms Florence Lim was not around either and at that point, he left the RCS complex, to file this report.
Stay tuned as the Think Centre conducts its own probe surrounding this incident on International Human Rights Day.
