Its all systems go with the final licence for the sale of the book "Make it Right for Singapore", T-shirt and stickers for the rally being exempted.
In a faxed letter dated 24 April 2001, Commissioner of Public Health Wong Nan Chee, granted the Centre an exemption for a licence on the grounds that he does not see any "public health implications" from the sale of the items at the rally. With this exemption in the bag, the organizers are moving full steam ahead with the final preparations for the rally.
There will be nine speakers in all for the rally with two keynote addresses one each at the beginning and at the end.
The first keynote speech by Gomez will be titled the "The Singapore Matrix: New Technologies, Old Values" in which he'll set out his arguments of a modern society where technology reigns supreme but transparency is still lacking.
J B Jeyaretnam, who is the anchor speaker, will deliver the second keynote speech "The Singapore Lie." In which he will outline why the people must gather for democracy and make their voices heard.
The following speakers, not necessarily in this order would be delievering their addresses in between. The speakers are Jacob George, Yaw Shin Leong, Melvin Tan, Bryan Lim, Gandhi Ambalam, Ng Teck Siong and Zulfikar Sharrif.
Speeches will be delivered in English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil.

I refer to your letter dated 18 April applying for a licence to sell books, T-shirts and stickers at the Yio Chu Kang Stadium on 28 April 2001.
2 A licence is required under the Environmental Public Health Act (EPHA) for the sale of such goods in a public place. However, in view of the fact that we do not foresee any public health implications from the sale of the articles that you propose, I will, under the provision of section 112 of the EPHA, grant you an exemption for a licence to sell on 28 April 2001.
