Christopher Neo Ting Wei, 38, has resigned from the National Solidarity Party (NSP). He tendered his resignation on the 2 June to NSP's Central Executive Committee (CEC).

Neo, a businessman, entered politics in 1995 and has been serving on NSP's CEC since 1996. He contested his first General Elections in 1997 in Boon Lay and won 33.9% of the valid votes. In 2001, he was part of the 5-man team which contested Tampines GRC and got 27.1% of the votes.

In recent weeks Neo has been seen accompanying the beleaguered Secretary-general of the Singapore Democratic Party, Dr Chee Soon Juan, in the latter's ongoing case with the authorities with regards to the recent May Day rally event at the Istana and events at Tanglin Police Division.

Neo's resignation from NSP also meant that he would cease to be the Treasurer of the Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) headed by Mr Chiam See Tong.
