Dr. Chee Soon Juan of the Singapore Democratic Party will be in court today to face charges that he spoke on issues pertaining to religion at the Speakers' Corner.
Chee who is representing himself will have to face the public prosecutor who will argue that an offence has been committed because a licence was needed for speaking on religious issues.
The SDP chief's counter argument will be that the tudung is a policy issue since the Ministry of Education took a stand to ban the children from attending school if they wore the tudung.
Chee Soon Juan will be presenting his arguments by way of a prepared speech.
The judge will then have to decide which way the case goes.
Meanwhile the bookies are open for bets on the outcome of the case.
